The difference between V7 (and V8)
and the lower versions is dramatic. V7 provides considerably greater
flexibility and power. Internal features (such as easy
parameter-passing, for technical types) makes V7 easier and more
straightforward to design, and faster and more efficient to run. One
of our largest migrations to date was V6 to V7, including 23 tables
and about 125 layouts.
There are numerous reasons to upgrade
to V8, among them dwindling factory support for lower versions and
more effective modules and performance for V8.
